教会内作業による敷地内の立入制限について

＊ 作業実施のため､次の時間帯は聖堂または教会敷地内へは出入りできません。

    1. 昨年伐採した聖母子像裏にある桜の根の撤去・整地と桜の苗の植替え作業
    2. 残りの２本の桜の「強剪定」作業
      以前より６０年を超える４本の桜の樹木内部が傷んでいる状態であることが指摘され手当されていたが､一昨年の台風１９号でシダレ桜の大枝が路上に折れ､内部がすでにスポンジ状に痛んでいることがはっきりした。なお､その台風により目黒区内の公園の同じ大きさの同じような状態の幹のソメイヨシノが何本か倒壊した。昨年は４本のうちの倒木の緊急性が高い２本を伐採した。その根元の中は､８割がスポンジ状態であり､周りの表皮だけで上の大枝を支えていた状態であった。残りの２本の桜は､今後の台風で倒木の恐れがあるが､根の処分と整地に相当の費用がかかることが判明し､当面の間は大枝部分を切って､強風でも倒れないように幹の部分だけを残しておくことにする。そのような作業を「強剪定」という。

    1. Removal of cherry tree trunks behind the statue of Our Lady and Child, which was cut down last year and re-planting of cherry seedlings
    2. “Strong pruning” of the two remaining cherry trees
      It is pointed out that the inside of the four cherry trees over the age of more than 60 years is severely damaged.  The large branch of the weeping cherry tree broke down onto the street by Typhoon No. 19 of the last year and it had been treated, but it proved that the inside the tree trunk was obviously damaged and being spongy. Some “someiyoshino” trees, which were in a similar state with the same size at public parks in Meguro ward, were collapsed due to the same Typhoon.  Last year, we cut down two of the four trees which required urgent measures. 80 percent of these two tree trunk was being spongy, and the trees were almost being supported only by the bark. There is a risk of falling down due to future typhoons to the remaining two trees, but it is expected to take considerable amount of cost to dispose of the roots. So, for the time being, we will cut down all the branches and leave only the trunk to prevent from falling even in strong winds. Such work is called “strong pruning.”
